Romantic Love Phase? Oh Please..., by Michael Sherman Do you really believe in Romantic Love? Well, let me tell you about my Imago match.
In the period Romantic Love, our unconscious gives us blissful feelings as we skip through life, forgetting everything except this wonderful person we've attracted. In the case of myself and Amy, it wasn't exactly this dreamy, woo-woo, chocolate chip cookie, time-is-infinite experience. Actually, we both had the same reaction when our Imago antennas tuned into each others channels.
"Oy! Can it really be you????"
Sure, we had romance. I won Amy's heart on our first date when I gave her a purple bracelet I bought at a dollar store. As two refugee New Yorkers in
Oy. We like to debate how long our romantic phase lasted. Was my inability to wear clothes that matched, fit, or smelled normal triggering unconscious longings? Was her incessant prodding the tender voice of my Jewish mother? We were clearly an Imago match. Yet through frustrations and struggles were big moves - driving back east, getting married, and now choosing to adopt a baby from
Imago entered our lives at a fast-food chicken joint. Amy needed to choose a professional training path. Looking at the cover of Getting the Love You Want, some words stood out to me: Runaway Best-Seller... Over One Million Copies... Oprah. "Imago sounds nice," I said.

What?????
I didn't realize how much hope, growth and peace would enter our lives through practicing Imago. Nor did I imagine that we would form a new company called Courageous Loving and that we would promise others to "Experience the Deepest, Warmest Joy in Your Relationship Now." We promise this to others, because we strive to experience it ourselves. Through Imago, we know we can.
